I went home yesterday afternoon after work….just like any other day. But little did I know at that point that it would turn out to be one of the worst afternoons of the new year.
I had lunch – just like any other day.
Watched a bit of TV – just like any other day.
While watching TV – tried avoiding talking to my wife – just like any other day. (kidding)
Prepared to go have a power nap before picking up the youngest later from school – just like any other day.
And that’s when it happened.
The slight ‘tickle’ in the throat, a little cough and the lack of appetite for another bag of Doritos. Could it be?!?!?! Noooooooo!
But yes it was. The onset of another……….’Man-Cold’. Gentlemen you know the feelings. (Ladies doing the eye rolls now? Does this sound familiar?)
The world was about to end. The tickle pain worse than sticking your index finger in the peanut butter jar for a second time. There was only one thing I could do to survive and make it to work the next day. Get plenty of rest and seek an enormous amount of sympathy. I did get some rest. I received little sympathy at home – but lots of understanding on Social Media. What does that mean?
So here I am at work again…..working through some lasting and what could be – devastating symptoms of a ‘Man Cold’. Thank you in advance for your sympathy.
The battle is real…..isn’t it?
