Confederation College and cyber experts have worked throughout the weekend to restore most of their IT services after a malware attack hit their system.
Director of Communications Rob Zuback says they are still working on trying to figure out how the attack happened in the first place.
“We don’t know yet part of the process is the cyber-security expert will be conducting a forensic investigation which we hope will lead to those answers,” Zuback says.
The only IT service yet to be restored is Confederation College’s e-mail system which could take several days.
The school is also trying to lessen the inconvenience for students by allowing for extensions on projects.
Zuback adds the attack came at the same time the school sends out admissions acceptance letters which could cause a delay in those letters being sent out.
“It was a disturbing incident, it wasn’t something that was pleasant to deal with but you see more of these incidents in the media every day,” Zuback adds.
