Tuesday’s one-day strike by local Catholic School teachers may be over, but Wednesday starts two days of no class for those in public elementary schools.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is now in to week three of rotating strikes, which will hit elementary schools across the Keewatin Patricia District School Board Wednesday.
That’ll be followed up on Thursday by a province-wide walk-out by all 83-thousand members of the teachers union.
ETFO president Sam Hammond says that the union made every effort late last month before the contract talks broke down yet again with Province, claiming that the Ford Government is unwilling to make any significant efforts to address the problem of classroom violence, or to support the integration of students with diverse learning needs.
The two days of job action will impact students in kindergarten through to grade eight, but will not interfere at all with those in grades nine to 12.
