The provincial government is being asked to support the work being done by the Sioux Lookout Friendship Accord.
It’s a partnership between the municipality and 12 remote First Nations communities.
Sioux Lookout Economic Development Manager Vicki Blanchard says they have advocating for support for policing costs, alternative justice, and mental health and addictions.
Blanchard notes the urgent needs of the region have reached far beyond crisis proportions.
She also says since 2016, 104 delegations, meetings and correspondence have taken place with provincial politicians on the urgent needs.
