Ontario’s Premier is urging all federal parties to ratify the new NAFTA agreement.
Doug Ford spoke this morning (Thursday) at the Canada 360° Economic Summit in Toronto and said NAFTA 2.0 is vital to our economy.
“We have to make sure the final approval of this new agreement will provide much needed certainty to Ontario and Canadian businesses. That’s why I support the federal governments push to ratify the new agreement in Parliament as soon as possible.”
Ford adds he doesn’t want to see political games when there’s jobs on the line.
The United States and Mexico have already ratified the deal and President Donald Trump held a signing ceremony at the White House Wednesday.
Ford also announced he is going to travel to Washington next week to advance the Ontario government’s priorities with key U.S. partners.
Investment, trade, job creation, business and building relationships will be top of mind for the Premier.
