Public input is still being accepted on a ten year plan for the Dryden Forest.
The deadline to provide feedback is March 23rd.
A consultation session was recently held in Dryden with about 80 people in attendance.
David Legg is the General Manager of the Dryden Forest Management Company and he says they are working on the strategy with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
Legg says they have introduced proposals on harvesting, building of roads, planting of trees and renewing the forest.
He notes there are five stages for public input and they are in phase three.
“We will incorporate all comments into the forest management plan as we move forward and develop it to be implemented for April 1st, 2021.”
Legg says the ultimate goal is to ensure they have a healthy forest out there for everybody to use.
“We need to incorporate all stakeholders in the decisions that we make. Whether that’s blueberry picking, or hiking, or bird watching, we want to hear from people.”
