Rural communities can get help from the province to attract skilled workers, create new jobs and boost their economies.
Premier Doug Ford is telling local leaders they can now apply to the Rural Economic Development fund.
“This year our government is investing $5-million into this program, so you have the resources to invest in your communities.”
The funding will cover up to half of the cost of projects that help create jobs.
Ford says they plan to remove red tape and eliminate barriers to help communities grow.
Ford states “We will also cover up to 30% of the costs for eligible minor capital projects to spur economic growth. Like restoring museums and heritage sites, setting up community hubs (which are so important) and streetscaping.”
Municipalities have until February 24th to apply for the RED program.
