An advocate for injured workers across the region is pleading his case for additional supports from the province.
Steve Mantis says government benefits through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board have been reduced by 50% and it’s having a negative affect.
“Workers who need the help end up having no one at the WSIB there to help them.”
Mantis stresses as a result they end up in poverty, with mental health problems and there families falling apart.
