Plans are underway for a new festival in the City of Dryden.
Early work is being put into Fall Fest 2020.
The effort is being led by Laina Smith and a group of hearty volunteers.
Smith addressed Dryden Rotary on Wednesday to start promoting the event.
“Create an annual, month long celebration for Fall that people of all ages of Dryden and surrounding area can come to and there will be events every Saturday after Thanksgiving.”
Smith says “I thought of the idea while walking the Laura Howe Marsh. I thought it would be a great location for a haunted walk for around Halloween and then once I started talking to people to try and see this a reality, a bunch of other ideas came up and it turned into a whole festival.”
Smith says proposed events include the haunted walk, a Family Harvest Fest with vendors and activities as well as a Trunk-or-Treat for the kids.
She stresses they are in the very early stages of planning as the next step is securing volunteers and funding as well as getting insurance and permit approvals.
Smith says the work also includes the design and launch of a logo as part of their branding initiative.
She states they already have a seven member committee hard at work and more people have expressed an interest in helping out.
