New Prospect School is one of the many area schools that got to check out a giant floor map of the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada.
The map is currently circulating around the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and helps teach the history of Canada.
Student Achievement Teacher Michelle Parrish says it teaches the history of the land for thousands of years.
Parrish also says the map also shows detailed information on where First Nation, Métis and Inuit people live in Canada and the languages they speak.
She also says the map is a part of the 4th part of their Strategic Plan which focuses on Reconciliation and says it is one way for students and staff to see our history as it responds to the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action.
The map will also be seen at other area KPDSB schools including Pickle Lake and Savant Lake, Sioux Lookout on January 16th and 17th, Kenora from January 21st to 22nd and the 28th to 29th.
It will also be at Lillian Berg School in Vermilion Bay on January 30th.
The map also made stops in Red Lake recently as well.
