A city transit bus accident last August is the subject of a Transportation Safety Board Investigation.
A CP train hit the back end of the bus at the Portage Bay crossing around 10:00 am back on August 8th.
The TSB says the arms and the signals at the crossing were working at the time and the driver of the train blew his whistle for 19 seconds prior to impact.
The driver of the bus stopped his vehicle on the south side of the rail crossing to pick up two passengers, thinking he had cleared the tracks.
The bus driver was also distracted by a passenger with a cane, who tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.
The back end of the bus was hit by the train, but fortunately no-one was hurt.
