The Dryden Under 15 ‘A’ Yellow Jackets hockey team had an exciting and successful tournament this past weekend while competing in Fort Frances, ultimately bringing home the gold medal.
The team went 4 and 1 while overcoming some adversity with the loss of 2 players in round robin and semi-final action.
The championship game pitted Dryden vs. Fort Frances in a hard fought and exciting game to watch.
Dryden fell behind 1-0 early on in the first but then Kade Bruyere of the Yellow Jackets tied it up with a beautiful slap shot from just inside the blue line.
The go ahead and game winning goal was scored by Sophie Armit on a nice shot from a rebound in the third.
Sydney Cloutier was outstanding in net throughout the weekend.
All Yellow Jacket players played excellent and showed tremendous perseverance and discipline in helping their team win the gold medal.
