The 22nd annual Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop Writing Contest is officially open.
This years’ edition will feature five categories: short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, prose and art review.
All work will be judged by a selection of award-winning Canadian authors including Russell Smith, Gwen Benaway and Bill MacDonald.
Contest coordinator Meagan Stockwell says the Writers Workshop strives to bring some of the biggest names from the Canadian Literary landscape to the contest, and the judges have won several awards including the Governor General’s Award and the Giller Prize.
Anyone can take part and all submissions must be sent in by February 28th.
Top prize in each of the five categories will claim $125, with $75 going to second and $50 to third.
