The Town of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls is looking forward to 2020.
Mayor Norbert Dufresne says there are a couple of infrastructure projects in the works.
“…(We’ll be) renovating some of our municipal offices for accessibility and security and we want to get that done,” says Dufresne, “…(and) we’re also working and coordinating with the KDSB on a new ambulance station in Nestor Falls.”
He says that while there is already one in the community, they’re looking at modernizing and upgrading.
Dufresne says overall it was a good year for the town, with all reports showing tourism was up.
“It seems that our traffic this year was higher than in previous years. You hit dips and now we’re on the upswing. There’s a lot of people going through Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls and a lot of people staying here….everyone I’ve spoken to has said that the number is up.”
He adds that the tourism bump helped make 2019 a good year for the community.
