Extra Foods is calling on Dryden residents to support their annual Holiday Food Drive.
Store Manager Chad Brash says the campaign will run until December 24th.
Brash says they are collecting non-perishable food items as well as cash donations to help community members in need across Dryden.
100% of the proceeds will go to the Dryden Food Bank.
Brash says “While most of us are doing our holiday baking, preparing for holiday entertaining and turkey fests, others in the community are worrying about how to keep food on the table and keeping the cupboards full. So, it’s to help those people that need our help.”
A Food Banks Canada report shows that almost one in eight food bank clients in Ontario are working but unable to make ends meet.
It also reports that children make up 33.3% of those using the services of food banks.
