Last Friday my alter ego was an invited surprise guest at the Homeward Bound Christmas Party in Dryden for the single parents and their children. Thanks to Homeward Bound Coordinator Val Artimowich for setting the visit up and Tyler Peacock for the pictures!
It was an awesome time surprising the kids and interacting with them!!
The kids faces are not shown in these pictures to protect their identities – but rest assured there were lots of smiles and laughter during the time I was there.
The main partners in the Homeward Bound program are the Dryden Native Friendship Center, Aboriginal Housing, Kenora District Services Board, Bridges, Confederation College and the City of Dryden Economic Office. ‘Homeward Bound’ is a job readiness program that integrates key local supports to help single urban Indigenous mothers enhance their lives and the lives of their children.
Thanks again to Val Artimowich -Homeward Bound Coordinator for doing what you do and including me as part of the celebration!
I was told that a couple of the youngsters rushed home after I left….and put on their Spider-Man pajamas. That was the ultimate smile maker!!
Have you smiled today?!
