Long-time Dryden resident Dorothy Sherwood passed away on December 2nd, 2019 in Princess Court, at the age of 102.
Dorothy was born in St. Mary’s, Ontario, and arrived in Dryden, January, 1940 as a young, recently graduated Registered Nurse. She spent the next 42 years nursing at the Red Cross Hospital, later the Dryden District General Hospital. After retiring at 65, Dorothy accepted an offer to work at “The Card Shop” where she enjoyed a second career, surrounded by people and pretty things!
Dorothy was most happy when spending time with friends, and she had many. Lifelong friends, made through nursing, bridge clubs, church and then new friends when she moved from the home she loved on St. Charles Street, to Patricia Gardens. Dorothy was a long-time member of St Luke’s Anglican Church. She loved to skate, to swim, to dance, and just to be outside. A day on the water with the sun shining was a perfect day for her.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her four siblings, and her husband George Sherwood.
Dorothy is survived by her family who love her very much, and who will treasure her memory. Daughters Wendy (Allan) Keeler, Brenda (Bob) Beasant, and Marni (Will) Felderhof, grandchildren Michael McCarl, Kent Keeler, Todd (Rebecca)Keeler, Dawne (Ken) Robins, Jamie Beasant, Dick (Jennifer) Felderhof, and Dave (Shannon Simpson) Felderhof and twelve great grandchildren. Though we will miss her forever, we are grateful for the long life she shared with us.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday December 7th, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes with Lay Reader Louise Lomas officiating.
