A united front by Canada’s provincial and territorial leaders
In a press conference following a premiers meeting in Mississauga yesterday (Monday), Ontario’s Doug Ford says it’s important that our nation shows it’s working together.
Ford says “We may have our differences but Canada is united. And as you have seen in this meeting, when some of the provinces are struggling, we’re all there, where going to be there, we support them, we have their back and we are going to everything we can to get them back on their feet.”
A national pharmacare program, clean energy, aboriginal child care and transfer payments were among the issues discussed.
New Brunswick premier Blaine Higgs talked about the production of natural gas and says Canada can be a world leader with the help of the federal government.
The first ministers arrived at a consensus on four priority areas of economic competitiveness, the Fiscal Stabilization Program, health-care and infrastructure funding, as well as northern priorities.
