Ontario, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick have signed an agreement to work on the development of small modular nuclear reactors.
Premiers of the provinces say SMR’s can provide carbon-free, reliable, affordable and safe energy.
Ontario’s Doug Ford believes they can be a world class leader.
He says SMR’s can get power up into some of the mines and mining towns as well as remote northern communities and off-grid communities.
The premiers look to having them in place within five years.
I'm excited to announce Ontario, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan have signed an MOU, committing to collaborate and advance the development of small modular reactors (SMRs).
