Food banks in Ontario fed more than 500,000 people this past year.
A Feed Ontario report shows more than three million visits.
Executive Director Carolyn Stewart says not only are more people relying on food banks, the number of visits is also up.
Stewart says over 70% of people who accessed their services were on Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program.
Stewart says the biggest users of food banks this past year were singles and children.
She adds there was an alarming number of people who were employed.
Stewart notes there was a definite difference between the north and the south of the province.
