Today (Friday, November 29th) is ‘Black Friday’ and this is the day many retailers call the official start of the Christmas shopping season.
Northwestern Ontario Association Chambers of Commerce spokesperson Charla Robinson agrees it has certainly caught on with many shoppers who are not going into the States anymore.
“Retailers have recognized that and are using that marketing tool to hopefully get folks to stay here and spend their dollars locally.”
Robinson believes the potential savings will help get people ready for the holiday season.
