The new federal Minister of Health says one priority is moving forward with a national Pharmacare plan.
Thunder Bay-Superior North MP Patty Hajdu says the government has already started the early work on universal drug coverage.
Hajdu says it’s important to work with the opposition, the caucus as well as provincial leaders to ensure Canadians have more affordable access to medication.
However, she falls short of agreeing to a call from the NDP for a national dental program.
Hajdu says the government isn’t opposed to the idea, but notes it’s too early to determine how the program will be rolled out.
She says another priority is getting up to speed on how to help people struggling with drug use.
