Provincial Police will be out in full force this holiday season to keep our roads safe from impaired drivers.
Constable Brittany Bembeneck says the Festive RIDE campaign focuses on drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs.
The initiative is underway and runs until January 2nd.
Bembeneck says RIDE checks will be taking place across the northwest region.
In 2018, 56 people were killed in alcohol or drug related collisions on OPP patrolled roads.
Close to 600 people have died on OPP patrolled roads in the past ten years in collisions that involved an impaired driver.
