There’s a move in Fort Frances to have plastic bags, plastic straws and styrofoam food containers banned in the community.
Councillor Doug Judson is introducing his proposed by-law so the town can do its part in dealing with the environment and climate crisis.
“This effort is last about making rules or levying fines for the town, it’s more about curbing our behaviour and creating incentives to do that.”
Judson says the by-law is just the start and more of a nudge to challenge everyone to step up and reflect on how they can contribute to a solution of a global crisis.
He suggests formal approval could come before the end of the year with the law going into effect in 2021.
