Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout have recognized three individuals for their heroic efforts.
OPP Constable Jean Duguay, Wapekeka Band Councillor Clifford Beardy and Wapekeka resident Dwayne Brown have received Commissioner Commendation awards for saving the life of a resident in the First Nation community.
On May 24th, Duguay took extraordinary measures to gain entry to a home and attended to an individual who was found not breathing.
Beardy and Brown assisted and their quick and decisive action as well as perseverance helped prevent a tragedy.
OPP say the actions of Beardy and Brown exemplify the outstanding dedication and service offered by the public to support the OPP, for which officers are truly grateful.
They add Constable Duguay’s actions throughout the event exemplify the high calibre of police response strived for in the OPP, exhibiting his commitment to the Wapekeka community by going above and beyond the normal call of duty to keep people safe.
