Mediation is being proposed by Ontario’s Education Minister in an effort to reach a contract settlement with the province’s teachers.
Stephen Lecce says he’s willing to get a third party involved in discussions with the unions representing teachers.
Lecce adds while the government has been reasonable at the bargaining table, the labour unions keep taking escalating steps toward strike action.
He says he believes mediation is the right step to take.
Lecce has repeated his desire to keep students in class, avoiding school closures and disruptions.
