Ontario’s Education Minister disagrees with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario assessment that an upcoming work-to-rule campaign won’t impact students.
Stephen Lecce feels the job action will hurt students.
Instructors will be withdrawing from Ministry and school board administrative duties starting on November 26th.
He says the government and the Council of Trustees’s Association have continued to table reasonable and expanded offers through negotiations, with only one interest in mind and that’s landing a deal that keeps kids in class.
Lecce says some of the responsibilities teachers won’t do specifically target several initiatives designed to improve students’ confidence and knowledge in math.
He adds that’s the one subject students continue to struggle with.
Lecce stresses his negotiating team stands ready for meaningful and good faith bargaining 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
