Working Together to Keep our Kid’s Warm.
That’s the goal of the 3rd Annual Winter Warmth Program in Dryden.
Organizer Gerry Powell was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show today (Tuesday) to promote the initiative.
Powell says they are now accepting mittens, toques, neck warmers, and headbands.
She stresses all donations must be new.
“They can be purchased, they can be sewn, they can be knit, they can be crocheted, but they have to be new.”
Powell says all items collected will be sent to area schools for kids in need.
Winter clothing can be dropped off at the Dryden Public Library or Sew Many Things on King Street.
You can also pick-up donations at those two locations.
Powell stresses “I’m really humbled and gratified by the generosity of the people in our community who do take the time to be involved and who do care about keeping our kids warm.”
She started the program after learning a similar initiative was discontinued by the Canadian Red Cross as she identified a real need in our community for warm materials for school children.
Powell notes Winter Warmth will continue until the weather improves.
