The Dean, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine is praising the work being done at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Dr. Sarita Verma recently toured the facility as part of a regional fact-finding tour.
She met with staff, front-line workers and patients.
“What a great place to work, there’s a great sense of team. I think the spirit of this community, they pulled together and raised funds for a CT Scan, beautify CT Scan, beautiful facility.”
She says the entire community seems to rally around the hospital.
“You get a real sense of togetherness here. I’ve met people who came here a few years ago and never left. And there’s a reason why, it’s absolutely beautiful.”
Before pursuing her medical degree at McMaster University (1991), Dr. Verma obtained a law degree from University of Ottawa (1981).
As a lawyer and a diplomat in Canada’s foreign service, she worked with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Sudan and Ethiopia for several years.
