A State of Emergency has been declared at Bearskin Lake First Nation due to flooding.
We’ve received emails pointing out the Severn River is blocked by ice, causing the water level to rise to the point the main road connecting the downtown to the rest of the residential areas is completely flooded.
We’re told Thomas Choong, a teacher, says they may have to blast the ice jam to get things moving.
Nishnawbe Aski Nation Chief Alvin Fiddler has tweeted efforts are underway to ensure everyone’s safety.
Bearskin Lake is about 425kms north of Sioux Lookout.
