The Freedom Road and conditions on Shoal Lake #40 First Nation, west of Kenora, will be in the spotlight tonight. (Tuesday)
Five short documentaries will air on the National Film Board of Canada website at 5:00pm.
Director Angelina McLeod says there’s a lot of hope for the future in the community with the construction of the all-weather road but stresses a lot of work remains.
“There is still the lack of clean drinking water, lower levels of education, inadequate housing, poverty, unemployment…the list can go on and on.”
McLeod says while the road has helped improve the way of life in their community, students still have to travel great distances to attend high school.
The documentaries last between 10 and 15 minutes each and can be found at the NFB website at https://www.nfb.ca/
