There’s a plan by the Ontario government to allow dogs to sit with their owners at outdoor restaurant patios in the new year.
Currently, dog owners can only take their pets to restaurants with railings that allow dogs to be leashed.
The government says if the legislation passes for January 1st, it will give customers more choice and allow businesses to be more competitive.
Health Minister Christine Elliott states the changes would be done only in low-risk food areas, such as where snacks or pre-packaged food is sold with beverages.
Elliott adds the move was made after restaurant owners complained of too much red tape and regulation.
