Grade 4 students at New Prospect School are helping people learn that wasps are beneficial and important insects.
This was happening on Friday as the students held presentations and booths at the school library.
Grade 4 Teacher Theresa Lambert says the students put in a lot of effort to research the benefits of wasps as they read non-fiction books and even spoke with scientists over Skype.
Lambert also says the students learned how to be entomologists for the month.
Grade 4 Student Ian Currie mentions one of the positive points of wasps is that they provide a food source for other animals such as dragonflies and ducks.
Currie also says wasp larvae act as a great natural pesticide as the baby wasps that hatch are great for eating damaging insects in your garden such as Tomato Hornworm and the Cabbage Worm.
Other benefits and interesting facts were provided at other booths as well such as the interesting architectural designs of their nests.
