A successful return of the Junior Golf program at Eagles Landing in Dryden.
The volunteer driven program was re-introduced this past summer for those aged 6 to 14.
It ran every Tuesday from 10:00am to 11:00am with golfers working on various areas of the game including chipping, putting and driving.
Kids were able to experience the game for the first time in a comfortable environment.
Organizers say they wanted everyone to feel confident and not defeated before sending them out on the course on their own.
They note there was so much improvement from the start of the season to the final wind-up.
The top three golfers on the closing day were Ryder Paquette (score of 41), Nate Bachynski (score of 42) and Emerson Moir (score of 45).
Finlay Langford was the recipient of a junior membership donated by Cheryl Lysak in honour of her father Bill.
Golf Coach Brett Lobreau says “In memory of Cheryl’s dad, we wanted to give this award to one of the young golfers who showed dedication, commitment, and a real readiness to learn the sport, and Finlay exemplified all of these qualities.”
Lucas Graver also received a membership on behalf of Rob Alderdice at Eagles Landing.
Officials say plans are already underway to make the program even more successful next season.
