Firefly in Dryden is teaming up with The New Mentality and the Centre of Excellence to host a Youth Engagement Forum at the Centre tomorrow.
The event runs from 9:30am to 4pm and they hope to address the social and emotional needs of youth facing mental health challenges.
The New Mentality Program Manager Mary-Anne Leahy says they will take all the information they collect and compile it into a report so the thoughts can be implemented at places such as Firefly.
Leahy also says they are hoping many young people come out to the forum around the age range of 13 to 25 years old.
The event was also possible with help from a grant by RBC.
They are looking for young people who:
– Want mental health services to be better for themselves or for their friends/family members
– May have experienced a mental health challenge
– Are excited about making changes to systems around them
– Want opportunities to network/make connections
– Believe their voice is important
