The Ontario government is making an investment in charter aviation services in northern Ontario.
Minister of Northern Development and Mines Greg Rickford has announced $1-million in Heritage funding to allow Wisk Air purchase a Bell 412 helicopter.
The Kenora-Rainy River MPP says the provincial commitment will help improve helicopter service to regional communities, better support remote Indigenous communities, assist electrical powerline development projects and expand emergency services.
The province says the investment will create six jobs at Wisk Air.
Rickford notes supporting important charter aviation services to Northern Ontario communities is crucial to improving the quality of life for northerners.
Wisk Air President and CEO Mark Wiskemann says with the support, they will be able to meet their goal to generate jobs in the region and introduce enhanced skills training opportunities.
