Liberal leader Justin Trudeau is spending today in the Greater Toronto Area meeting with candidates and volunteers.
After helping with a Thanksgiving food drive, he spoke to reporters about the polarity of the campaign and what he calls the spread of false information by the Conservatives.
“We have seen this in our friends and allied countries around the world, where increased divisive discourses, misinformation, [and] deliberate misleading of electors, has lead to some very toxic elections.”
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh cast his ballot in BC in the advance poll, and urged Canadians to look beyond the Liberals and Conservatives when they vote.
“I know if people voted, we could actually change this country for the positive. We wouldn’t be stuck […] choosing between Liberals or Conservatives, which is what they want to tell you to choose between. I know if more people voted we could do things differently, and I’m really excited about that.”
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May are both taking today off.
The People’s Party’s Maxime Bernier and Bloc Qubcois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet spoke at separate appearances in Quebec.
We are just over a week from voting day and advance polls are open today and tomorrow from 9am to 9pm.
You can also vote by special ballot at an Elections Canada office up until 6:00 PM on Tuesday.
Information on where you can vote is on the back of your voter card.
