Central bargaining talks between the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the province and the Council of Trustees’ Association will resume today.
CUPE made the offer to head back to the table just two days into a work-to-rule campaign, though a union spokesperson Rodney McGree says if there’s no deal by Monday their members will be walking off the job.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says that they are trying to confirm what impact a possible strike would have on staff and students, and that they will pass along more information once they have it on their website.
The Northwest Catholic District School Board is also preparing for a possible strike by its CUPE employees.
In a letter to parents, the board says it’s hopeful a new agreement will be reached, but is planning for all contingencies.
It’s also encouraging parents to make arrangements for alternate childcare in the event schools are closed because of strike action.
The board’s also keeping parents updated through its website and Facebook page.
