Student enrollment at the Kenora Catholic District School Board, which oversees St. John School in Red Lake, is a little higher than expected.
So far this fall, there is just over 1,400 students signed up.
Director of Education Derek Haime says he’s happy with the numbers.
“We are above the projections we had in June,” says Haime, “…we’re pretty close to 1420 system-wide so we’re quite pleased with that.”
He adds they are close enough to budget that they don’t have to make major alterations for the Ministry of Education.
“It (registration) is slightly above projections, but not significantly. We’re very happy that we can use the budgeting we’ve done well.”
The first numbers have to submitted to the Ministry of Education in Toronto by the end of October.
