A Muskrat Dam First Nation woman is being honoured by the Canadian Military.
Canadian Ranger Emily Beardy has received a 2019 Canadian Army Deserving Soldier Award.
The award is given to a soldier who embodies the Warrior spirit through leadership and service before self, both in their units and communities.
The Nishnawbe Aski Nation is recognizing Beardy for her award with the following statement:
“We commend Emily for supporting her community in times of need while being a role model to her community and colleagues. It is great to acknowledge the dedication and achievements of our members who are helping our communities and strengthening our Nation. Emily’s leadership and dedication continues to inspire others to be a positive influence in their communities. We value our relationship with the Canadian Rangers as they continue to support our communities, have compassion for our people, respect for our culture, and have a welcome presence across our Nation.”
