Councillors will once again ponder the idea of changing the name from the City of Dryden to the Town of Dryden tonight. (Monday, September 23rd)
Staff will make a presentation on the steps and impact behind a potential move during an opening meeting at 7:00pm.
Shayne MacKinnon will be voting against the move.
MacKinnon stresses the title “City” holds the promise and the confidence that the community will expand and will grow our businesses and industry and have a higher regional profile and maintain our leadership in the region.
He says a number of community members have been actively involved in making sure that the City of Dryden can progress and reach its goals.
MacKinnon stresses a name change would be a serious step backwards and he doesn’t understand the logic behind it.
Changing the name would cost Dryden some money on re-branding and in other areas.
