The Alzheimer Society is receiving support for a program aimed at keeping those living with dementia safe.
The provincial government is providing nearly $600,000 to the Society for its Finding Your Way initiative.
Minister of Seniors and Accessibility Raymond Cho says the program responds to those living with dementia who may wander off or go missing
Cho says the money will support seminars and education with individuals, caregivers and front-line officers.
About 60% of people living with dementia will go missing at some point, often without warning.
Nearly 7,500 people were reported missing last year.
Our Government is committed to helping seniors with dementia stay safe in their communities by supporting @AlzheimerOnt’s “Finding Your Way” program.https://t.co/jfv3hNIe4A pic.twitter.com/MiA3alBBe9
