A reminder to local residents and visitors to stay away from areas that are under a Restricted Fire Zone.
Although the fire hazard is now low, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has issued an expensive reminder of the consequences of not following travel restrictions.
It stems from a July, 2018 incident in the Sudbury area where a Toronto man violated an Emergency Area Order, which was put in place to protect public safety and to allow fire crews to do their job.
Dale Roddick was fined $2,500 for paddling a small canoe in an area that was declared unsafe to travel without a permit.
