Ontario’s Education Minister is encouraging negotiators involved in efforts to strike new contracts for teachers and other education workers to work harder to reach a deal.
Teachers’ contracts officially expired Saturday.
Stephen Lecce is confident students won’t face any disruptions to classes at the start of the year as talks continue.
“They continue unimpeded. We continue to have meetings at the table. That process has to happen at the table but I do believe a deal can be made, ” says Lecce.
Talks between the province and teachers unions have been ongoing since the spring.
