Margaret Aileen Saville
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Margaret passed away at home, August 30th, 2019.
Born in Dryden on May, 5th, 1963. Margaret graduated from Dryden High School and from Red River College, then spent a year in New Zealand and Australia. Returning home, she moved to Winnipeg, where her daughter, Claire was born. She lived in Toronto for a few years before returning to Dryden where she threw herself into the community as an active member of the Dryden Rotary Club and the Dryden Yacht Club.
Marg was an incredible hockey mom, always the loudest fan in the stands and sticking around afterwards to make sure everyone was fed. She was happiest out on the sailboat, Esey’Cs, on long voyages to the far reaches of Wabigoon Lake, especially Minihaha. She gave her heart to the community – racing dragon boats, making popcorn, wheeling cement at the yacht club, raising money, telling jokes and laughing. She fought the cancer bravely for several years, and never wanted to give up even in her last moments.
Margaret is survived by her husband Robert Fuerst, daughter Claire Paquette, and her stepchildren Jordan and Tyler Sampson and Kelsey and Egon Fuerst. She is also survived by her mother Jacqueline Saville, sisters Catherine Spicer, Barbara (Rick) Szijarto, and her nieces and nephew, Drew and David Spicer, Sydney and Gillian Szijarto. She was predeceased by her father Alvin Saville.
A memorial funeral service to celebrate the life of Margaret Saville will be held Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. in First United Church with Alice Bloomfield officiating.
Interment of ashes will take place in the Dryden Cemetery at a later date.
