Lakehead University in Thunder Bay is getting more than $740,000 for research projects that will help Indigenous communities, people living with dementia and others across the region.
The money is from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Three projects will assist Indigenous children who are experiencing mental health difficulties, investigate how food can provide health interventions in Northern Ontario’s rural and urban hubs, and assist people with dementia in the decision-making surrounding their own death.
Dr. Christopher Mushquash, who grew up in Sioux Lookout, will be part of the research team.
