Couchiching First Nation is the latest northwestern Ontario community working towards a new retail Cannabis store.
An application put forward by its economic development corporation is one of eight the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is allowing to proceed.
Chief Brian Perreault doesn’t anticipate any issues in setting up.
Perreault says “We’ll just have to work with Ontario and making sure that we’re meeting all of the requirements that they have for the store and the licensing and everything.”
He says they don’t have an immediate timetable for an opening, but notes they do have a year from approval to set-up.
Perreault believes the store will be beneficial for everyone in the area.
He says the outlet will be located near the headquarters of Wasaw’s Economic Development Corporation’s logging operations.
