The Chair of the Provincial Big Game Management Committee hopes the changes his group proposed for moose hunting regulations in Ontario will be adopted by the Ford government.
John Kaplanis says they stuck with the directive given to them by the Natural Resources and Forestry Minister.
Kaplanis notes “that mandate included coming up with a moose tag setting process that was renewed and revamped and a tag draw allocation process that was new and improved.”
The committee came up with a points system allowing those who haven’t received a tag for years, to get to the front of the line for future draws.
Kaplanis believes there is “fairly good support from the government” to the recommendations, but notes the Ford government has the final say and there still could be changes.
Kaplanis is the Executive Director of the Northwest Sportsmen’s Alliance.
