There were three new small forest fires in the region by the end of yesterday.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says there are a total of 30 active fires, with only two not under control.
The risk of forest fires is low to moderate in the northern parts of the region, while it’s moderate to high in the southern areas.
Two of the new fires are in the Fort Frances area while the third is northeast of Nipigon.
They are all under one hectare in size, with one located on an island on Rainy Lake 13 kilometres east of Fort Frances, another 61 kilometres north of Fort Frances on an island on Bluffpoint Lake, and one in the Nipigon District near Chopper Lake around 21 kilometres northeast of the community.
