Legal Aid Clinics and OPSEU members across Ontario held information sessions across Ontario.
Claire McDowell is a new legal aid lawyer in Kenora and says people don’t know how government cuts are affecting them.
“I’m not sure that I would call this a protest per se, but basically what we’re doing is trying to do is have an engaging event where people can come and talk with us and we can get some information out there,” says McDowell.
“Because a lot of people aren’t aware of how significantly these cuts are going to affect our communities.”
McDowell says the have been told to cut 3 per cent from their annual budget, which doesn’t seem like very much but is lots to them.
